Bolan vodool WiFi Endoscope, IP67 Inspection Camera

I have used tried several other endoscopic attachments for my phones in the past but this is the first Wifi connected model I have used and I was very pleasantly surprised by what a simple and easy procedure it was too.The endoscope arrived packaged in a rather plain and simple box, perfectly adequate to protect the contents but not very attractive as a gift purchase. Inside was the endoscope itself, a short USB charging cable, an accessory set consisting of a Hook, a Magnet, fixed ring, and a Mirror. Also included was a well printed and easy to read User Guide. Build quality all seems fine and nothing looks likely to fail anytime soon. The IP67 waterproof device consists of the endoscope itself, a small black plastic box containing the electronics, wifi transceiver and 1000mAh rechargeable lithium battery pack. The 1/6.5″ CMOS camera lens is on the end of an 11.8ft semi-rigid cable with a 9mm metal and plastic protected head. The supplied tools can be attached to the head to retrieve lost objects or perform simple remote tasks. The device can take photographs and video in 1280×720 pixels. On the front face of the unit is a large button used to operate the camera: short press to take a photo, long press to start/stop a video recording. Above it is a pinhole used to reset the device and a status LED. On the side is a thumbwheel used to turn the device off and on and vary the brightness of the built-in 4 LED light.Unlike older rivals, this one connects to your phone by Wifi with a claimed range of up to twenty metres. I only ever used it when much closer and the connection was consistently rock solid. The use of wifi means it can very easily be used by iOS or Android devices with no need for OTG cables, adapters or complicated setups. To use the device first download the WiFi Borescope app. Turn the device on and wait for the LED to flash which indicates the device has set up a Wifi hotspot. Use your phones wifi setting to connect to the wifi hotspot with the default password of 88888888. You can then either use the device button or the app controls to take videos and pictures. You can also review recordings within the app. It is simple and intuitive to use and far simpler than the older cable-based devices I have used. Take note that the best depth of field is quite limited with the point of focus being about 1.5″ from the end of the lens, so resist the temptation to push the lens too close to the object. Also, I found the 9mm head diameter to be larger than it appears at first so you may have a problem getting it down some plug holes, for example. All the images I got had a distinct colour cast due perhaps to the special ‘Advanced Blue LED Light Technology’ used here. That can be easily sorted out if necessary with your imaging software. Finally, I found that the video frame rate is slow so avoid fast movements when recording video. Don’t let these minor issues put you off as the camera is not going to be used for Wedding Photos and for the use it is intended for the images are excellent. The current Amazon price of just £29.23 is less than I have paid for old style USB rivals and considering the ease of setup and use wit this device that makes it a bargain indeed. The Good
